FISHING
Fishing is excellent all year with peak action in
March, April, and May. The lake's clear water holds Largemouth
and Smallmouth Bass, Kentucky Spotted Bass, Crappie, Walleye,
White and Striped Bass, Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Bluegill and
Catfish.
In addition to the lake, trout fisherman will find
moving waters not too far away. Both the White (feeds Bull Shoals
Lake) and North Fork (feeds Lake Norfork) Rivers offer excellent
trout fishing. A 1988 world record brown was caught on the North
Fork River weighing in at 38 pounds, 9 ounces!
A unique feature of this area is a YEAR-ROUND TROUT
SEASON. Trout Fisherman can enjoy fishing all year long, escaping
the closed season of their home states. With this benefit do come
some added regulations. Some waters are designated strictly "catch
and release" seasonally, such as the Bull Shoals State Park
area, so be sure to check the current Arkansas Fishing Regulations
Handbook.
You can obtain everything you need to get fishing
right at our resort: licenses, trout stamps, regulations handbooks,
ice, and bait. For your convenience you can find an online version
of the Arkansas
Fishing Regulations Handbook here. You may want to look it
over so you can plan your trip and fishing areas accordingly.
